For those workers in the recycling industry and other situations where there exists a risk of accidental needle sticks, there is a rating just for this specialized risk. Very similar to a puncture rating, the test uses the same procedure but with a stylus sized to replicate a 25 gauge needle. The force required to penetrate the glove determines the rating.
