21 Jun The Per(foam)ance Artist
In our lifetime, we have seen coffee go from a mundane morning beverage to a pricey, hightoned extravagance. Just when you thought
coffee had soared to its highest possible height, along comes Mike Breach to show us coffee’s potential to capture our imagination once again.
Breach is a barista in New York City who has raised the level of coffee presentation to an art form—literally. His medium is the ethereal
yin and yang of coffee and steamed milk. By manipulating the placement of foam on the java canvas, he has created monochromatic portraits of people, places and things that are amazing in their detail.
“I kind of want to be the Willie Wonka with coffee” Breach says. He believes his artwork takes the “pretentiousness” out of a 5-dollar cup of coffee. Breach has an Instagram account where he posts photos of his better works. Check it out here: http://instagram.com/Baristart
